Richard J. Wilson
Richard tragically died in a road traffic accident on 7th December, 2000, at the tender age of 19.
He came from a long line of “Richard Wilsons”, well known in and around the Fylde Coast. Richard was a good all round sportsman who kept himself in peak physical condition. He captained Kirkham Grammar School at Rugby Union and at the time of his sad loss was a regular for Fylde 2nd XV with every chance of making the first team before the end of the season.
His funeral was attended by over 600 mourners, including many from his sporting connections and the large number of young people in the congregation demonstrated his popularity.
The Foundation was established to provide funds each year to support youth sports organisations and individuals in the Wrea Green locality, now extended to the greater Fylde and Preston area.
